The artist

Born in Brussels in 1960, Anne Vanquaillie is since her childhood fascinated by art. After attending various courses at "l'école des Beaux-Arts, Wavre," she encountered a certain degree of difficulty and leaves the idea herself to be an artist but continuous to have a great admiration for the masters and their students.

In 1980 she learned the art of ceramics through workshops in the "rue de Voot" at Woluwe Saint-Lambert and creates a few pieces. Inspired by the work of Giacometti, it was until 2004 when she discovered a technique which she could work independently without the infrastructure of the big studios. "Différentes matières sont testées, assemblées, mélangées afin de permettre le modelage des silhouettes sur une armature métallique. Les supports varient : Bois flotté, cep de vigne, galets, sable, plâtre, béton, verre, métal, granit, pierre bleue.."

Spotted by Anna-Lena and Sten Palmquist, she takes part in an exhibition in April 2007 of the Swedish art school in the Chateau d'Argenteuil cooperate with the Swedish artist-painter Ylva Molitor Gardsell.

In 2008, as part of a multi-disciplinary forum for artists, she shall exhibit in Jurbise.

Each piece is unique, designed by the passions of the artist: climbing, sailing and interest in the various faculties which man can achieve at various stages in their life, in such a way that only serenity radiate.

There is a permanent exhibition at Lounge Restaurant 'Channel 16' at Zeebrugge.
